“Where do babies come from?” the child asked as Joslyn visited her best friend who recently had a newborn baby. This question is one that young children ask their parents. When asked, some parents answer with tales of storks flying with babies in baskets, dropping them off with parents who desire a child. I would not advise this approach because it is not the truth. In contrast, some parents act as if they are clueless or look for ways to change the subject. Last are the brave, straightforward, no nonsense type of parents who get right to the point and tell the child the truth.
Likewise, I’m glad that when it comes to the tough questions, Jesus does not make up something. This is precisely the case with the Pharisee named Nicodemus. As a Pharisee, he was familiar with Old Testament prophecy, and the promises made about a new life. So, when Nicodemus approached Jesus to ask a tough question, Jesus did not give him a fairy tale. He tackled the question head on before Nicodemus got the chance to even present it.
