Harriet Tubman was nicknamed “Moses.” Just as Moses helped to deliver the people of Israel from Egyptian captivity, she led many expeditions where she freed slaves. Her first courageous act was escaping herself to freedom. There were many obstacles against her during that time. There was always the chance of her being captured and possibly killed. Although faced with those dire consequences, she returned several times and helped others escape. She is quoted as saying, “I said to the Lord, I’m going to hold steady on to you, and I know you will see me through.” We must do the same just as Harriet used her faith to help her through scary and uncertain situations.
“I said to the Lord, I’m going to hold steady on to you, and I know you will see me through.”
